Our Work

Cardinal Gibbons Chapel Renovation | Documentary Fundraiser

Project Overview

When Cardinal Gibbons High School embarked on the renovation of their campus chapel, they knew a standard, statistics-heavy capital campaign video would not suffice. To truly motivate giving from school families, they needed a narrative that captured both the spiritual significance and the physical transformation of the space.

They partnered with Keys and Cross Media to document the journey, moving beyond a simple financial ask to tell an emotionally compelling story of creation, community, and faith.

Our Approach: Cinema Vérité & Observational Storytelling

To capture the authenticity of the renovation, we adopted a cinema vérité documentary style. Rather than relying on heavily scripted talking points or staged scenes, we embedded with the community as the project naturally unfolded.

Our cameras followed the school’s chaplain to capture the theological and spiritual vision of the space, while simultaneously documenting the carpenters and craftsmen physically building the new altar and sanctuary elements. We focused on the raw, observational process of creation, where sawdust meets sacred purpose. By letting the camera act as a “fly on the wall,” we captured the meticulous craftsmanship and the reverence of the work, allowing the emotional weight of the project to speak entirely for itself.

The Impact

This documentary approach transformed a traditional fundraising initiative into a deeply resonant story of stewardship. By showing families exactly what their contributions were building, the film fostered a profound connection to the new chapel. The resulting video serves as a powerful centerpiece for the school’s giving campaign, inspiring the community to invest in the spiritual heart of their campus.
