Prospect Donor Campaign | The Consortium of Catholic Foundations

Project Overview

For the member organizations of the Consortium of Catholic Foundations, one of the greatest hurdles to fulfilling their mission isn’t donor apathy, it’s internal institutional resistance. Many diocesan foundations face a common struggle: parish priests, school principals, and ministry leaders are often hesitant to partner with them, fearing the foundation will “take away” their local donors.

The Consortium needed a way to break through this fear and clearly communicate their true role. They partnered with Keys and Cross Media to produce a strategic, white-label video campaign designed to reassure parish leaders, build trust, and open the door for collaborative giving.

Our Approach: Framing the Foundation as a Partner, Not a Competitor

To dissolve the tension, we knew the video had to speak directly to the lived reality of a pastor or school leader. They are overwhelmed by the demands of their primary mission and rarely have the bandwidth to navigate complex tax codes, estate laws, or complicated giving situations.

Instead of an aggressive marketing pitch, we structured the narrative as an offering of support. The video clearly and empathetically positions the Catholic foundation as a back-end partner. We highlighted that the foundation exists to handle the financial complexities of major gifts, allowing local leaders to focus entirely on their pastoral and educational missions.

Because this was developed as a white-label asset for the Consortium’s 60+ members, we engineered the project for seamless regional customization. Each diocese could rebrand the video to feature their own foundation’s specific name, contact points, and localized messaging, ensuring the trust-building felt local and direct.

Measurable Impact & Trust Building

The strategic shift in messaging delivered immediate, tangible results. Following the deployment of this customized asset, member foundations reported a breakthrough in their communications. Pastors and ministry leaders who had previously been resistant finally “got it.” By using empathetic, clear storytelling, this video successfully disarmed institutional fears, opening the door for vital conversations and allowing parishes to fully utilize the resources their local foundations provide.
